Joint Statement from Formula 1 and Silverstone:

Silverstone and Formula 1 remain in close dialogue regarding the ongoing situation and are assessing the feasibility of holding the British Grand Prix on 17th – 19th July. We fully appreciate that other UK sporting events in July have taken decisions regarding their events, but it is important to highlight that their logistics and sporting arrangements differ from Silverstone’s and, therefore, our timeline gives us until the end of April to make a final decision. The safety of our fans, colleagues and the F1 community will be our priority and we will continue to engage with the appropriate authorities.

25 March 2020

With the ever-changing situation of Coronavirus, government advice for social distancing and only allowing essential travel, as well as the directive for us all to stay at home if possible, we’re going to be taking an extended pitstop at Silverstone.

The governing body of motor racing in this country, Motorsport UK, has extended its suspension of all motor sport activity in the UK from the end of April to the end of June, so there will not be any motor racing events, and the associated testing, until July at the earliest. We’ve also postponed our track days and Drive experiences until we re-open.

On a more positive note, if you’re looking for a special treat, birthday present or Father’s Day gift we have two great options for you:

  • We are extending the expiry date on purchases of our Drive Silverstone experience vouchers to 18 months. Buy them here
  • We have a fantastic online shop, open 24 hours a day, with Silverstone, F1 and, MotoGP team merchandise at reduced prices. Pick up a bargain here.

Although we’ll be closing the gate at the circuit to the public for as long as we are required to do so, we’ll still be keeping in touch with you with regular updates on the website and our social media channels. Plus the Silverstone team will be ready to answer your emails, webchat and social media direct messaging enquiries, while making sure we’ll be ready for track action as soon as we’re given the green light

Our passion is your passion, enjoying fantastic motorsport, both 2 and 4 wheels, and whether you take part, spectate, or help to make it all possible, everyone’s welfare is the only priority at this time.

欧洲杯2020赛程We’re all in this together. None of us yet know when restrictions will be lifted and we can return to the track.  But we promise all our loyal fans we’ll do so just as soon as we can, with a wonderful programme of great racing at the home of British Motor Racing.

We thank all of our fans, organisers, marshals, race makers and staff for their understanding and support during these unprecedented times.

A special thank you also, to all the NHS staff working day and night to look after those affected by the virus and to the key workers who have joined them in the battle to keep us safe and well.

A LETTER FROM STUART PRINGLE

‘I am writing to give an update on where we stand with our forthcoming events at Silverstone as the country continues to battle against the Coronavirus.

This week, it has been announced by the sports’ governing bodies that all motorsport has been suspended in the UK to the end of April 2020 to support the British Government in its efforts to contain the spread of this virus.

Many of you have booked tickets for our events later this summer including the Formula 1 Pirelli British Grand Prix and MotoGP and I fully appreciate you want to understand if these events will take place.

The truth is, like so many other international sporting events scheduled to take place around the world, we cannot predict what the situation will be by the time we get to the summer months.  However, I can wholeheartedly promise you that everyone at Silverstone, Formula 1 and MotoGP are doing all they possibly can to ensure we can run these events on their planned dates in July (F1) and August (MotoGP).

欧洲杯2020赛程In fact, as Formula 1’s CEO Chase Carey has stated, Formula 1 and the FIA do not expect to begin the Championship in Europe until after May although this is regularly being reviewed.

I would like to reassure our fans that, should we be forced to cancel either Grand Prix, all customers who have purchased a ticket will be given the option of a full refund.

欧洲杯2020赛程We will, of course, continue to keep you updated as the situation in the UK evolves and I would like to take this opportunity to thank you for your support and patience in what is an extremely difficult time for everyone.

Most importantly, I do hope you and your family members are safe at this worrying time.’
